The SAVA brand originates from Slovenia. Sava brand tires are manufactured in various factories in Europe as well as in other parts of the world; annually, several millions of tires are sold across the globe.
The roots of tire manufacturing in Slovenia go a long way back in time, accumulating more than 85 years of expertise in the rubber industry. Since then the sales of SAVA tires have spread throughout the world with growing success in the Western European markets. Today SAVA brand is fully owned by The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers.
Milestones:
1920: Atlanta – import and export company is established in Kranj
1931: The company in Kranj becomes a property of the Austrian company Semperit, and later of Continental
1946: Through nationalization, Tovarna gumijevih izdelkov Sava is established – regular production of car tires and tubes begins
1948: Sava trade mark is introduced
1965: First tubeless and high speed tires are manufactured
1967: License agreement with Semperit is concluded
1972: The new Sava Semperit company starts its operations
1974: Manufacture of steel belt radial tires for passenger cars begins
1985: Continental is acquired by Semperit
1995: Sava and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company enter into negotiations
1998: Sava Tires, the Goodyear company in Slovenia starts its operations
1999: In addition to Sava domestic brand, manufacture of Goodyear, Fulda and Debica tires begins
2000: Dunlop joins the family of brands
2001: Acquisition of ISO TS 16949 certificate enabling the sales of tires to OE vehicle manufacturers
2002:
- Sava Tires becomes one of the most successful Goodyear companies
- Construction of the distribution center for south-eastern Europe is terminated
